Women play historic round at once all-male Augusta National

The inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur has been a hit with average golf fans and stars alike since the first tee shots were hit on Thursday at Champions Retreat.

Coverage of the Augusta National Women's Amateur final round will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET on Golf Channel, and switch to NBC at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Kupcho, 21, fired a five-under-par 67 to finish at 10-under, with final group playing partner Maria Fassi signing for a 70 which the Mexico golfer runner-up at six under.

After bogeying the first hole, Fassi had four birdies on the front nine.

The American turned up the pressure another notch with a birdie at 16 as Fassi finally blinked, taking a bogey, her first since the opening hole, to hand Kupcho a two-shot advantage with two to play.

It featured all the heritage of Augusta National, including honorary tee shots by Nancy Lopez, Lorena Ochoa, Se Ri Pak and Annika Sorenstam.

Past year he had a mainstream breakthrough with his album "Victory Lap", a major label debut that got him a Grammy nomination. The chief did not reveal how the two men were acquainted or offer any details about their dispute.

Augusta National announced its Women's Amateur previous year at the Masters, creating an opportunity for some of the best amateurs in the world to showcase their skills on a course where Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods have created so many big moments.

Both parred 17 and Fassi made bogey at 18 before Kupcho concluded with a roar-raising 20-foot birdie putt.

Kupcho, the No. 1 player in the women's amateur ranking, finished at 10-under 206 and won a silver bowl as the trophy, along with a piece of crystal - another Masters tradition - for making the only eagle of the tournament. She picked up another stroke on the par-4 1st, but she missed a short birdie putt on her 11th hole, the second of the Island Nine, and struggled with her swing after that.

"My dad, he is my coach, he started coaching me when I was eight years old so this is special for me", said Perez.

"For them to kind of make us like Arnold, Jack and Gary, it's a real big honor to be here and hit that first shot", Lopez said. "I don't know if she understood me or not, but she did it".

Tied again, she delivered the victor with a 7-iron on the par-3 16th that caught the ridge and fed down to the hole. "Obviously, I didn't make any, and I didn't really give myself an opportunity".
