SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch

SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch

In its first-ever commercial launch, Falcon Heavy will deliver the Arabsat-6A into orbit, marking a new business milestone for the company and further cementing it as the leader in commercial spaceflight.

Forecasters with the U.S. Air Force 45th Space Wing are predicting an 80 percent chance of good launch conditions for the almost two-hour window. This mission will cost the Air Force $130 million.

SpaceX's Falcon Heavy launch, which has been delayed twice this week, is set for Wednesday evening in Cape Canaveral, Fla., another potential milestone for the company and the USA commercial space industry. A Falcon Heavy will launch the STP-2 mission for the U.S. Air Force. The auto, which was carrying a space-suited mannequin nicknamed Starman, was vaulted into outer space and is expected to orbit the sun for the foreseeable future.

The launch is now scheduled for 6:35 p.m. EST, and it will be streamed live online.

Thousands of people came to SpaceX's launch site in Florida to watch the spectacle. It has three rocket boosters, which are strapped together during launch and are created to then break apart and make pinpoint landings back on Earth.

Donald Tusk suggests European Union leaders grant United Kingdom a longer Brexit extension
As a last resort, May has even started cross-party talks with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, but there have been no results so far. Mrs May will report back to MPs on the Brussels summit and seek approval for a revised extension date.

About seven minutes after launch, the Elon Musk-led company will attempt to land two of the vehicles' boosters on pads on the Cape. Despite a good first run, the center core unfortunately missed its drone ship landing due to an igniter fluid issue. SpaceX is expected to attempt to land all three this week.

Positioned in the geostationary orbit, Arabsat-6A is expected to last 15 years, provide television, internet, telephone, and secure communication services to the Middle East, Africa and Europe, according to Space.com.

After liftoff and separation, Falcon Heavy's three first-stage boosters will return to Earth for landing.

After the procedure concluded in the hangar, the rocket was rolled onto the pad for a static test fire ahead of the launch of the Arabsat 6A satellite on April 9. The last launch was about a year ago. SpaceX chief operating officer Gwynne Shotwell flew to Saudi Arabia to reassure them that the Falcon Heavy would be reliable.

In a departure from past designs, the satellite features thin, flexible solar arrays instead of the rigid panels used on other spacecraft. Altogether, Falcon Heavy likely weighs upwards of 80,000 kg (175,000 lb) empty and more than 1,420 metric tons (3,125,000 lb) when fully fueled. In three key areas-national defense, science, and human exploration-the Falcon Heavy rocket has to some extent changed the discussion. Falcon Heavy only has five missions on its manifest so far.
