Sarri wants Chelsea to buy Higuain but admits striker ‘needs to improve’

Sarri wants Chelsea to buy Higuain but admits striker ‘needs to improve’

Maurizio Sarri says he is not anxious about Chelsea's looming transfer embargo, insisting he has confidence in his squad as he targets a top-four finish in the Premier League.

A win for Maurizio Sarri's side would see them move two points clear of Tottenham, while Arsenal would be a further point adrift following their 1-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday.

He is expected to be on the bench at West Ham on Monday but should start the Europa League quarter-final first leg against Slavia Prague on Thursday.

"Because, in the season, they were not able to have consistency, but they are a team with high quality". Loftus-Cheek also scored in that game with a fine long-range effort.

CHELSEA look like a better team when Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the pitch rather than on the substitutes bench.

Chelsea must still make trips to both Liverpool and Manchester United in a testing end to the season, leaving the Blues eyeing even more closely home wins over West Ham, Burnley and Watford.

When Sarri was asked whether he wanted to retain the Frenchman's services, he said: 'Yes, of course.

"I think he needs time to improve his physical condition and time to be suitable for the Premier League".

Despite a troubled maiden season for manager Sarri no side has conceded fewer home goals than his in the Premier League this season.

"They are improving. In this moment of the season, they are fresh".

"But now they are ready - and fresh". "I know the club have an option [to extend his contract] for another season, so I think he will remain".

Chelsea boss Sarri insisted he wants to keep the on-loan Juventus striker at Stamford Bridge next term, despite the Blues remaining subject to a Federation Internationale de Football Association transfer ban.

"Yarmolenko is working very well, he has no pain, he is running and kicking the ball, but maybe it will be too soon for him to play before we finish", said Pellegrini. We have a lot of young players who are really good and improving.

And ex-Chelse and Barcelona striker Gudjohnsen is the latest to join in, saying Hudson-Odoi's impact on the team shows he is ready to become a first-team regular.
