President Trump Says Boeing Should 'Rebrand' the 737 Max After Fatal Crashes

President Trump Says Boeing Should 'Rebrand' the 737 Max After Fatal Crashes

"We remain confident that the impending software updates, along with the new training elements Boeing is developing for the Max, will lead to recertification of the aircraft soon", American said. But now it seems the planes will not return to service until August 19, 2019, Reuters reports, also providing an estimation that approximately 1.5% of the carrier's daily summer schedule or 115 flights per day would be cut. Some airlines are also weighing extending aircraft leases and bringing back idled planes, but with unclear MAX timing, no option is clear-cut or cheap, consultants said.

Chief Executive Dennis Muilenburg has apologized on behalf of Boeing for lives lost in two recent accidents and promised that it would address the risk that flight software meant to prevent the plane stalling could be activated by wrong data.

The 737 MAX was grounded worldwide in March following a fatal Ethiopian Airlines crash just 5 months after a Lion Air crash in Indonesia.

AA said that its reservations team will contact affected customers directly, with passengers on cancelled flights given the choice of rebooking or obtaining a refund.

World's largest plane makes first flight over California
Stratolaunch was founded in 2011 by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen , who passed away earlier this year. The world's largest aircraft successfully completed its first test flight on Saturday.

The tweet comes as the Chicago-based company has been under vast pressure after the crashes spurred an global grounding of the fleet and launched numerous federal investigations. Preliminary investigations have pointed to problems with an anti-stall feature.

Almost 400 B737 Max aircraft have been delivered to carriers worldwide, with Southwest now the largest operator with 31 aircraft in its fleet.

The FAA initially said Boeing would complete the software fix "no later than April".

American has 24 MAX jets and had previously planned to cancel MAX flights through early June. The software fix is to include changes to prevent the system from overreacting to bad data, a new set of cockpit alerts created to make pilots aware of potentially unsafe situations, and a new pilot training course.
